The Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill was introduced to Parliament and received its first reading in May 2024.
The Amendment Bill includes:
- changes to notice periods and how tenancies can end
- technical changes to improve the clarity and efficiency of the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA)
- the introduction of pet bonds and other changes to the rules around keeping pets.
The Bill was referred to the Social Services and Community Committee for consideration. Submissions opened 22 May 2024 and will close 3 July 2024.
