Tenancy Services has recently been reaching out to students across the country to make sure they know about new smoke alarm and insulation requirements.
Tenancy Services National Manager, Information and Education Jennifer Sykes says with the academic year now beginning, it’s been an ideal time to get messages across to young people at student orientation weeks around the country.
“Our team has been attending O Weeks at six universities to spread the word, where we’ve been able to reach out to thousands of young people in Auckland, Waikato, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. “
“We want to make sure students know they need working smoke alarms in their flats and that if they’re moving into a new flat, they must know whether the house is insulated. They can find this out by checking their Tenancy Agreements or talking to their landlord,” says Jennifer.
